In partnership with the City Government of San Fernando under the leadership of Mayor Vilma Caluag, Generika Drugstore conducted Ginhawang Barangayan in Barangay Sindalan, San Fernando City, Pampanga last June 5, 2024.
Through Ginhawang Barangayan, residents, especially the senior citizens of Barangay Sindalan, accessed Libreng Konsulta and free medicines to address their medical concerns.
Ligaya Castro, who is one of the senior citizens who attended Ginhawang Barangayan expressed her gratitude for the Libreng Konsulta and free medicines. “Malaking tulong po sa amin itong Ginhawang Barangayan dahil nalilibre kami, nalilibre ang mga senior citizens na hindi na kayang bumili ng gamot,” she said.
This opportunity to improve the lives of elderly residents has been met with great appreciation from the barangay, which recognizes the event as a significant step forward in enhancing local healthcare services and supporting the well-being of its community members.
Kagawad Pacifico Datu who handles the health committee said, “Malaking tulong ito lalo na sa mga kababayan natin na medyo hirap sa buhay, maraming tao ang natutulungan.”
One of Ginhawang Barangayan’s objectives was to break the misinformation that generics medicine is inferior in quality and safety compared to their branded counterparts. In addition, to equip the community with knowledge about family health, a nutritionist from Barangay Sindalan conducted a talk on ‘Pinggang Pinoy’, promoting and encouraging Filipino families to achieve balanced meals for a healthier diet.
Mayor Vilma Caluag expressed her gratitude for Generika’s impact on the lives of the Fernandinos through Ginhawang Barangayan. “Thank you po Generika sa pagtulong po ninyo dito sa Siyudad ng San Fernando. Hindi nyo lang po alam kung papaano ninyo nahaplos ang mga buhay ng mga Fernandinos ngayon kasi syempre po, magkakaroon sila ng mga gamot na libre.” She also reassured the public, emphasizing that all services were free, and participants would take home medicines. “Okay lang po kayo dyan kasi andito po ang mga magagaling na doctors natin para ma-checkup kayo. So wala po kayong gagastusin at may dadalhin pa kayong mga libreng gamot.”, she said.
