Generika Drugstoreās commitment to making quality healthcare more accessible and affordable has earned a Gold Award at the 2026 Inquirer ESG Edge Impact Awards held on July 22, 2026 at the Sheraton Manila Hotel.
Its flagship community health program ā Ginhawang Barangayan, was recognized in the Good Health and Wellbeing category for bringing essential healthcare closer to Filipino communities nationwide.
Through the program, more communities have gained access to free medical consultations ā Libreng Konsulta, affordable generic medicines, basic healthcare services, and health education sessions ā GenTalk that promote greater understanding and confidence in generic medicines.
Ginhawang Barangayan aims to address persistent barriers to healthcare access, including low health prioritization, high out-of-pocket expenses, and the widespread preference for branded medicinesāfactors that can make essential healthcare harder to access and afford for many Filipino families.
As a subsidiary of AC Health, the healthcare arm of Ayala Corporation, Generika Drugstore carries forward the groupās broader commitment to improving access to healthcare, with Ginhawang Barangayan helping translate this commitment into meaningful community impact. A key element of the program is its community-based approach, through which Generika Drugstore partners with organizations with established ties to local communities, including transport groups, homeowners’ associations, employees’ associations, senior citizen groups, school-based organizations, and other community groups. These partnerships enable the program to reach beneficiaries directly and tailor its healthcare activities to the needs of the communities it serves.

Through proactive partnerships, Ginhawang Barangayan has completed 24 medical missions in 2024 reaching 5,336 Filipinos nationwide. The program has also received a 98% overall satisfaction rating from 1,135 respondents. Notably, all respondents reported having greater trust in the efficacy and quality of generic medicines after participating in the program, while 93% said they would consider buying from Generika Drugstore.

The programās impact extends beyond the medical missions themselves. 3,245 participants or 61%, enrolled in GeneriKard, Generika Drugstoreās loyalty and rewards program during the events.
Following each medical mission, Ginhawang Barangayan also connects participants to nearby Generika Drugstore branches through follow-through communications and continued access to affordable healthcare services, including monthly Libreng Konsulta. In this way, the program seeks not only to provide immediate assistance but also to build sustained connections between communities and accessible healthcare.
Ultimately, Ginhawang Barangayan reflects Generika Drugstoreās belief that healthcare has greater impact when it is brought closer to the people who need it. Through lasting partnerships, the program brings quality, affordable healthcare within reach of more Filipino familiesāadvancing a shared mission with Inquirer ESG Edge Impact Awards towards better health and wellbeing.
